Embodied Yoga

In 2024, I went to India to qualify in 200hr YTTC “Embodied Movements in Yoga, Hatha, and Meditative Vinyasa”. I had the pleasure of learning from Sri Parveen Nair in Rishikesh. Along with an authentic foundation in yoga asana, I learnt an embodied approach which draws inspiration from dance, somatic practices, bodywork, breathwork and non-dual philosophy.

My teaching style is to move from a place of rest, finding your own rhythm and inquiring into the sensations alive in the body moment-to-moment. I incorporate somatic practices and embodiment tools into my classes to create a nurturing, intuitive practice.

I also trained in “Trauma-informed Yoga”, a course which explored philosophical parallels between the Yoga Sutras and the nervous system. This included a practical application of trauma-centred approaches in teaching, particularly in empowering students to explore the play of opposites (expansion/contraction, pleasure/discomfort) and find balance.
