Hello love,
I’m Mady, a yogi, kitchen dancer and devotee to the study of the soul.
I am fascinated by becoming the artist and engineer of my life, by tending to each layer of this existence with reverence, ritual and a lot of laughter.
My romance with embodiment is ever-blooming with the many languages of science and spiritual praxis. Each offering is a melting pot of neuroscience, yogic philosophy and ancestral knowledge of the somatic heart that yearns for us to simply remember the ritual of being in the body. A recipe for high voltage love and aliveness.
I have always been seduced by the energetic dimensions of being in my body. Since I was a child, dancing and entertaining others was an opportunity to create new emotions and interactions that seemed to be unlocked by magic. Committed to unveiling this magic, I went on to study Theatre and Performance at the University of Sussex and then completed my masters in Applied Performance at Goldsmiths University. Here I deep-dived into the cultural processes that connect people, performance, play, power and politics. The alchemy of creating spaces where vulnerable stories could be transmuted into liberation was intoxicating to me.
From here, I knew I wanted to descend from the macro to the micro, the deeply personal. Despite having an ability to perform confidently for others, I felt a deep shame within my own body. I dealt with body dysmorphia and self-loathing habits which made me feel unsafe with myself. I began the practice of Movement is Medicine®, a neuroscience-backed movement method that uses dance and touch to bring safety and freedom back into the body. The simplicity of this joyful medicine was life-changing, and in 2023 went on to become the first qualified facilitator. I felt like I was finally stepping into myself and my joy, making people feel and move and dance and heal in yoga studios, clubs, festivals and the comfort of their own homes.
Now, for the descent.
It is impossible for me to write honestly about “who I am” and the offerings I make without summoning my loss and grief. In February 2024, my little brother took his life, an event which is undeniably woven into the centre of my life - a stark before&after. I believe that if it wasn’t for my curiosity and previous study of somatic healing practices, I wouldn’t be able to alchemise this pain into purpose. I will say that having a background in trauma theory and then actually living it are two very different things, but nonetheless, being in my body saved me. I understood the importance of feeling and processing my trauma as it was occurring so as not to calcify and constrict my life force for years to come, and now I support others in doing the same.
The depth of this detour to the underworld made it impossible to ignore - I now needed to devote myself to creating and sharing my own practices, as informed by the wisdom of my own lived experience. The gift of my wound is that Death and Love now sit side by side as my greatest teachers. Grief has processed me, sometimes brutally, filtering out my inauthenticity and smallness. By opening my body to undeniable pain, my devotion to uncovering the stories held within the axis of the mindbodysoul has deepened beyond my wildest imagination. I see the sacredness of suffering and how it is inseparable from our purpose here. I also see the impossibility of surviving without laughter, joy, intimacy and connection. Thank goodness for it all.
MY OFFERINGS ARE A LOVELETTER TO THE WOMB WITHIN THE WOUND.
You are invited to come into your body, whether that is in grief or in ecstasy. Here you can trust that I will hold you through an arc of alchemy, where together we will root into our bodies, descend into the stories and rise from the ashes with a deeper sense of connection, compassion and devotion to our own becoming. For the journey ahead is long so why not have a dance within the darkness?
Thank you for being here.
